Artists / Illustrators
If you did not receive an email with full information about submitting artwork, please let us know and we'll add you to our list and forward the document - It's important that you read this before starting anything.
Please take the time to browse through the list of submitted work. These are only excerpts - and may not provide enough material for you to begin an artwork - so, if you think you would like to illustrate a particular piece, please email the editor - Nick Button for a copy of the full story.
Note the status column too. As stories have illustrators working on them, or have an artwork confirmed for them - The status column will be changed to indicate this.
Note the 'Suggested Image' - where there is one, this is just an idea of what might be relevant. You should be guided by your interpretation of the piece, help from the author - and your imagination.
With regards style of artwork - we are completely open to ideas. In fact the greater range of styles and execution, the better! Bear in mind that your illustration may occupy a facing page to the story - or if suitable have the text run-around the illustration. If you create a texture - this could be dropped in behind the story, as long as the text can be made readable.
If you wish to illustrate a piece - you MUST inform the editor before starting work - this is to avoid wasting your time/talent, if the status is incorrect etc. You will also be asked to submit a thumbnail sketch or description of the idea you have - This will help the editor when balancing the graphical styles in the book, and when more than one artist requests working on the same piece.
Note too that you will be put in contact with the author of the work - in order to seek their ideas - and explain your concept to them. This should be very useful in creating the most suitable artwork for the piece.
